Just purchased this electric bakelite clock,it’s in full working order.

In 1930, Smiths dominated the home market, patenting its first synchronous electric clock, using the 50hz AC frequency to achieve new levels of accurate time-keeping at affordable prices for homes and offices.
Their factory was in Cheltenham Gloucestershire,my grandfathers hometown.During the Second World War because he was not fit for active service he had to leave his shop as a tailor in the hands of my grandmother and was sent to work in the factory where they made instruments of some sort for the war, for aircraft I believe.
This clock got me thinking about Smith’s factory as I used to pass it on the bus on my way back from senior school in the 60s.
